For the past 2 1/2 months a good friend of mine and I have been training like crazy for a half-marathon in Scottsdale. Then on Nov 7th we did it. This was my first time doing any kind of race like this and it really was an awesome experience. It was extremely hard and my body protested with me the entire time but WE DID IT!!!
The day started REALLY early. We had to wake up at about 5:20 so we could get to the starting line and get ourselves ready for the race to start at 7:00am. Being there at the start line was really cool. It was early, dark and little chilly but our adrenaline was already pumping. Then by the time we started it hadnwarmed up a little and then weather was perfect. We could not have asked for a nicer day. Here we are getting ready.....Margie's dad did the race with us. He is so fun to have around and he was great at motivating us to keep us going.

The race was not really that bad but the real struggle came at around mile 12. I did NOT want to finish that last mile. I was done. I could barely feel my legs at that point but I new I could not stop there. Then finally the finish line.....

Jared and the kids were waiting here with Margie's family to see us come around this final stretch.

For some reason I was having a little trouble keeping my emotions in check. Throughout the race I would just start randomly sobbing and then when I came around the corner and saw my family there I ran right up to them and gave Jared a big hug and just lost it.

I am so glad they were there to see me finish. It meant so much to me to have them there.

The personalized bibs and the finishers medals they gave us were really
awesome.

I think the medal was what the kids were most excited about. :)

Here we are goofing off and having fun!! The headbands we are wearing we found at the Expo the day before. They say 'Operation: Shrink A Booty'...... Love It!!!

Then the next day we decided to treat ourselves to a little bit of this.......

And then top it off with a pedicure.
SOOOOO Nice!!!!
Even though doing the race was extremely hard it was alot of fun and I am so glad we did it. Thank you to all my family and friends who were super supportive and gave me the motivation I needed along the way.
